I had a busy weekend

Helped my sister move into her new condo yesterday. She was expecting it to take four hours, but it was more like eight because nobody realized how much crap she has, and half of it wasn't packed.
It's a very nice place, except for one thing. Because some of the units are still being constructed, the final layer of asphalt for the street and driveways hasn't been applied yet. That made it kind of difficult for her friend's husband to back the u-haul up to the garage, and I tripped on the gap between her driveway and the floor of her garage after I closed up the u-haul.
My workout today went fairly well, despite a sore foot and shoulder from the aforementioned fall. Something about my cardio workout actually made my foot feel better, but I don't quite understand why since I had to move my feet a lot. I think I'm starting to see results- I feel stronger, there seems to be a bit of substance to my frame now (I'll consider taking some pictures when I actually have something to show off), and I feel like I'm walking a bit differently because of it. I still don't like that almost all of the fat I have is on my abdomen, but I'm starting to fix that.
My attempts at art haven't gone as well as I would have liked.
I've been feeling exhausted from the whole fitness thing, and work hasn't helped much. However, I was inspired to start something new after seeing how well a good arm fills out an mp3 player's armband accessory.

The idea is to have Dan flexing his arm so he can show off how well his new toy fits. It's been a while since I drew something new, so I felt like I was learning the absolute basics again; however, I'm also starting to see some value in not being neat when sketching. His torso is supposed to be turned a bit to the side, his lats could probably be a little bit wider, and I'm not sure I drew the initial stages of the arms correctly, but at least I feel like I started to accomplish something.

Date: 2005-10-04 01:02 pm (UTC)Seeing results already? Congrats! I wish you lived closer, I could use a workout buddy x_x
Didn't get a chance to say it earlier, but I'm glad you started a new pic. While it's good to fix what you can on an old one, there comes a point where you have to start a fresh tact as a break.
Hm. Yeah, that torso does look a little "standard" for the odd proportions you're looking for, sorry to say.
OTOH, yowza, that's a nice set of abs. I hate to critique the pic at the risk of you changing those XD There's not enough of the arms visible to really say much about those at this point, tho. Can you draw those out a bit more?
I'm still gonna be spotty this week, but I'm feeling marginally better today, even though I was up at 3:30 x_x

Date: 2005-10-04 11:35 pm (UTC)Thanks. If I lived closer to you, I would love having you as a workout buddy, even if I am the exact opposite of a morning person.
I knew it would help to start drawing new things. The problem was finding something that I felt like I could do. I have a bunch of huge, complicated pictures and half-formed ideas in my head, but lack the overall skill and patience to get them onto paper.
That is fair criticism, so you don't have to be sorry. I also thought the torso was a bit too normal.
Dan: You want a closer look at my abs, don't you? Go right ahead if it will help you feel less stressed. I'm not shy.
I was starting to run out of energy when I got to the arms and decided to post what I had. It's just as well since they will need to be erased when I adjust his torso. And, yes, I'll do my best to preserve his abs.
I understand, and If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.
