Don't trust anyone over thirty, man

Technically, I could have used that bit last year, but it takes less explaining when you're 31.
A surprising number of people remembered my birthday this year, to the point where it was starting to get in the way of doing my job.
In other news, I'm going to give competitive bodybuilding a try in November. Everything I do at the gym will have to be kicked up a notch since I only have about nine months to bulk, work on my problem areas (chest in particular), cut, and do anything else I need to prepare. Thankfully, being short is an advantage here.

Date: 2010-01-31 06:59 pm (UTC)Work out what size / cut / color of trunks you want to wear, and buy them early; you never know how limited supplies might be, or if near the time they'll have sold out in the posers you want.
Similarly, tanning is also an art, and you may wish to practice the tan before the competition. If you're a light-skinned person like me, it'll take a lot. You'll need a very dark pre-tan which will likely take multiple applications, and then the stuff you apply on the day for the stage which makes you shine.
Think about your music - you'll likely get a 1 minute solo routine, and you pick the song. Personally, I found this the most fun thing of the whole comp! Let loose a little :-)
Finally, when it comes down to the posing you'll be judged on, you should start practicing NOW. It's really tough; ideally you want someone who knows their stuff to look over you and correct your form as you pose, but failing that recording yourself on camera and replaying it for yourself will do. The trickiest thing for most people is learning how to spread the lats, so concentrate on posing those first.
I hope I can be of assistance to you in the future!
