Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nekura_ca, I was able to try out my idea for red tea ice cream. Results were decent, I have a couple notes on things to improve, and I'm now considering buying an inexpensive ice cream maker.

The thing that would really convince me to get one is a reason to use the thing regularly, like unusual flavors- appetizing or otherwise. Suggestions are welcome if you've got 'em.

Oh, and I need to find something attractive to serve/display my creations in. I was thinking of something like a martini glass since it's clear and a single scoop would fit perfectly.

A martini glass sounds excellent.

I have but one suggestion, which may be difficult because no one else seems capable of it with other foods/drinks - unless I have simply yet to stumble across it.

Grape. And I don't mean grape flavor - GRAPE grape. The fruit. Not that...repulsive LIE.

I can dream. Otherwise, oatmeal. Because it's tasty.

From what I've heard, fruit-based ice creams are tricky. I'll have to do some research to see if grapes will work. I was considering some sort of wine-based ice cream, however. Maybe merlot. *Waits for the alcoholics I know to kill me for wasting booze.*

I could see oatmeal ice cream working once a few wrinkles are worked out.

Oh, and I guess I'll need one more thing- victims test subjects.

There's a shop not to far from my place that sells home made ice cream, they make fruit flavours the simple way, take plain ice cream, tip a tub of fresh fruit in it and mix it in..... best ice cream I've ever had.

Hmm... Wine would be interesting. I don't like wine, but wine-coffee is something I'd try regardless.

They've done graham cracker ice cream, I'm sure oatmeal is just fine after that.

Man, I would LOVE to be a test subject. D: Oh, if only.

Wine-coffee, wtf?

I was thinking in my head about how I'd mention that I don't like coffee, but I don't think coffee ice cream is that bad... But then I realized I don't like coffee ice cream THAT much anyway.

I guess my mind stuck with it though, instead of wine-ice cream. :/

Martini glass is a good idea ^^

I want to buy a counter-top ice cream maker.. but I'm afraid those are not too great.

From what I've been reading, there are some decent inexpensive models. The major drawbacks are noise and storing the things. I may have to file the idea under "nice to have" for the time being.
