The weekend was mostly uneventful, other than my sister getting another cat. Apparently, the new kitten is very loud when it purrs. Right now, Emmy isn't pleased by the invader and they're trying to sort out dominance with staring, hissing, and chasing. The kitten still has its claws, so she should be able to hold her own against Emmy.
My project is winding down, the client really likes what my company has proposed, and there's a chance that I could be overseeing some Indian programmers if the client decided to hire my company for the actual coding for the website updates we proposed. The scope of this project was just one part of a website, but the big plan was to use this to say, "Hey, now that we redesigned this part of the site, how about letting us redo this part too?" So far, it looks like that's still the plan.
There will be a month-long gap before the next part of the project, but that should give me some time to find a place a bit closer to the client.
I'm also eligible for an early turn-in on my car's lease, and will be getting a new vehicle on Thursday.
Now I just need to tell people that I don't like when they get in the way of my cardio workouts at the gym, and everything will be great.

So when you have these "gaps"...what do you do besides training? Is it a lot of thumb-twiddling?
Which car?
How do they do that?? I've had to wait for busy machines sometimes, but everyone's generally pretty respectful...

Date: 2006-07-18 03:31 pm (UTC)It should be interesting. I've never done something like this before, and am concerned that I'll swing wildly bettween extremely permissive and being too demanding. I hate telling people that they're doing a bad job, too.
Training, some thumb-twiddling, and busywork. Last time, I was almost sent to Texas for a month on very short notice. (They called about it on a Thursday, said I would know that Friday, and wanted me there the following Monday.)
I got a good deal on a Ford Fusion.
It's actually people preventing me from getting to the gym, not the people at the gym. Certain people love to spring important stuff on me at the last minute, usually by not telling me in advance, or claim that things won't take long when they really will.

Date: 2006-07-18 07:29 pm (UTC)Exactly. S'why I hope I'm never a manager.
Fun x.x
Ah, kewlness. Don't know anyone who owns one personally yet, but good luck with that. I...don't remember what you have now.
Oh! Heh, misunderstood ^ ^;;

Date: 2006-07-19 10:49 am (UTC)This would have one advantage over managing people locally. I'd probably be talking to the manager of the programmers in India rather than managing people directly.
It's also an opportunity to take time off without missing anything.
I don't think I said what I have now, but it's a Taurus. Focuses are starting to show up around here, and my salesman said that he's selling a lot of them. Their most distinct feature is the slightly excessive chrome.
I didn't write it very clearly in the first place, so that's understandable.
