Procrastinating, and a new project for me
Mar. 9th, 2006 12:34 pmI really shouldn't be writing this since I have work that needs to be done, but it's been a while since I posted anything and I need to eliminate distractions.
My home now has a wireless network connection. It still needs some adjustments to maximize security, but it was absurdly easy to set up. Playing Mario Kart DS online is a lot of fun.
My internet connection has some increasingly frustrating problems, and was supposedly fixed on Saturday. Water poured out of the cable line when the technician tried to check the signal, and everything was fine after the technician replaced the line until a thunderstorm last night. I did enjoy the rain, thunder, and lightning, but I'd like to have an internet connection that isn't flaky.
I'm supposed to be finishing up a 45-minute presentation on written communication, but I'm procrastinating since I'm not the one who will be giving it, and I'm concerned that I'm not providing enough detail. This would be easier if I were giving the presentation since I tend to memorize what I need to say and put the exact words together as I go along.
My company decided to adust its promotion cycle give people opportunities for advancement twice a year, and I got formal notice of my promotion and raise. ^.^ Now I should be able to take vacations without feeling like I'm going completely broke in the process.
I'm also going to start my next project on Wednesday. I'll be doing some HTML prototyping for a proposal my company is making to a client, the same client as my last project, incidientally. That means I have a long commute again, but at least adjusting to the new role should only take a few days, and the project is only about two months long.
