Arrived and dinner was rehearsed
Apr. 21st, 2007 02:46 pmThe flight out to LA was essentially uneventful, though I could have done without the cold that made descents painful.
Driving around the area was interesting. I'm so used to Michigan lefts that it was weird to see divided roads where you could actually turn left at the intersection, or even make a U-turn.
The rehearsal dinner was at the Culver Hotel, and was pretty good. Matt, my middle cousin fulfilled his role as best man with a thoughtful and funny toast that included dropping an f-bomb to embarrass his mom.
Food was a buffet with margaritas served at the bar. I had a tangerine margarita (probably should have gone for lime), and plotted to get my mother drunk. We managed to get her to tipsy.
We also had a fun time discusssing my grandmother's antics, and really wished we could have convinced her to come. (She claims she wouldn't be able to tolerate sitting on a plane for very long.) Apparently, my grandmother now thinks everybody should have "a live-in" before getting married, and told my sister that my cousin Matt was "shackin' up" with his girlfriend at Yale.
Going back to the hotel was interesting since my dad managed to put a big, ugly scrape in the side of the rental van while entering the parking structure.
The wedding itself is this afternoon, and should be more fun. Eventually, I'll have pictures.
