My first day of work at my new project is finished. It was mostly paperwork and reading documents since I can't get on the internet or do much else until I get the proper access.

The last project I was on kind of spoiled me. I'm used to huge, new buildings with multiple cafeterias and vending machines at regular intervals. This place used to be medical offices or something, but was reconfigured for other uses. Doors right next to each other will lead to the same room.

The 70 mile drive is something I'm going to have to remedy by moving. Travelling an hour in one direction each day gets old really fast.

I have a choice quote from my mother when I said the address of this office: "That's on the other side of Lansing." It's not, and I knew that, but I humored her because she's geographically challenged. What she meant to say was that the place was on the other side of East Lansing.

And I got an update from my sister about her time in Texas. (She's there for a month or two to get training for supporting a new product.)

On Saturday, she got to race an armadillo. No, not against it. She just prodded it along in a race against other armadillos, and managed to win. Actually holding an armadillo made her so happy that she didn't even realize that she won something- a bottle of armadillo milk. I think she would have been happier with the armadillo.

I also found out how my sister's cats are doing at two of her friends' home, which is pretty much a farm. These friends and their roommate have one cat and one dog each. Somehow my sister's kitten, which is 4½ pounds of black and white fluff, rules over them all. That made me think the kitten should be named "Bean."

The youngest dog will sometimes try to sniff it. If the kitten wants some attention, it sniffs back. If it wants to be left alone, it puts its little paw on the dog's nose, and the dog leaves.

Emmy just tries to hide from the other animals.

Now, I must resume my search for a new home and then sleep.
