A good example of why you shouldn't mess with nature.

I went to my grandparents' house last Sunday to celebrate my grandfather's birthday and got the chance to see what lightning did to a tree in their yard last Thursday.

The bolt of lightning went partway down the tree's west side, crossed through the tree to a metal hanger for a birdfeeder, went through that (shattering a pane of glass in the feeder), and down to the ground on the tree's east side. Long, thin strips of tree were still scattered around their yard, and the tree itself had very ragged wounds along the path of the strike. Since the tree was near their utility lines, the lightning also zapped their kitchen phone and reduced their cable connection to a few broadcast channels.

It also scared off all of the wildlife my grandparents feed.

I need to do something nice for codyvfrost since his job has been very stressful lately, but I'm not quite sure how to make him feel better. Should I try making him laugh? Drool? Scared by absurd cuteness? Calm with a tranquil image?

Until I figure that out, ( time for more attempts at art. )
