I celebrated New Year's Eve at my sister's place along with nine other people: Laura, Heather, Qian, Mike, Scott, Sandy, Mike's girlfriend Alexis, Sandy's boyfriend Eric, and Eric's friend Brian (The cute ones are always straight or unavailable). I'd never met the last three people in the list, but everyone else falls into the group of people who make me feel bold and outgoing.

Interesting fact about the people at my sister's place last night: all of the guys wore glasses (with one brief exception) and none of the girls did.

I got there a bit early and played with the cat for a bit, and she seemed to like me better since I remembered to let her come to me. Emmy has definitely grown since I saw her last, and she has an intersting vocal quirk. She normally chirps instead of meowing.

Several of my sister's friends brought alcohol (She ended up with more than she started with), and some of them brought snacks. Those who drink quickly made their way to the booze, and we started suggesting things to do.

Eventually, we all agreed to play mafia. Sandy kept trying to use logic and deductive reasoning since she's going to law school, which didn't work out so well once she had a few drinks in her. She kept accusing me of being mafia and tried to get me killed because I was being quiet, but that's normal for me when new people are around. (I move really slowly with new people, and adopt a glacial pace if I'm attracted to one of them.)

While debating who was mafia, Scott pointed out that he could be mafia since he really had killed someone before. (It wasn't his fault. There was a snowmobile accident and the other guy was doing something stupid.) We also argued that either Lauren or Heather had to be mafia since they're twins which means one of the must be evil, or at least more evil. (Technically, they're triplets, but their brother doesn't count.)

At one point Sandy became the moderator, which was really amusing since she was too drunk to remember much of anything.

Qian kept nominating himself to be killed, which was funny the first time, but got annoying afterwards. My sister and I kept nominating eachother to be killed since that's just what we do.

During all of this, Emmy got used to the idea of having a lot of people around and cautiously made her way into the living room. She still ran if someone was too direct for her liking, but it's still progress.

When we got bored with mafia, we made Sandy order a pizza since Scott pointed out that having a girl place the order increases the odds of getting a really nice pizza, and we figured that a drunk girl would tilt things further in our favor. My initial topping suggestion was quickly shot down, but we eventually settled on three pizzas: Hawaiian, bacon, and pepperoni. Sandy did a pretty good job of ordering, even if we did have to walk her through some of it.

After the pizza was ordered, my sister and some of her friends played dominoes. Emmy got in the way a bit because she liked batting the dominoes around.

I decided to take a closer look at the snacks since I hadn't eaten in a while, which turned out to be a good idea since the pizzas were very late. About two hours after we ordered them, my sister called to ask where they were. The person who answered was very rude, claimed that my sister's condo wasn't in their system, said that someone at a different number said that the order had been picked up, and told us that it would take about an hour to make new ones. Scott said that we weren't paying, and that he would make sure nobody tried.

While waiting for the second set of pizzas, my sister's friends finished playing dominoes and we opened up the vegetable tray Mike brought so we could have something to eat while we waited.

The pizzas arrived shortly after midnight, but the delivery guy said that the place was really easy to find and took money off the bill (It was less than what they originally said it would be.), which placated Scott.

Once a decent amount of the pizza had been consumed, we played Apples to Apples. The first red card I drew was "The Challenger Explosion", which was kind of creepy since it was the first "Where were you?" event that I can remember. It's not easy to forget seeing something happen when you're home sick on your seventh birthday. I also annoyed my sister by drawing, and playing, all but one of the blank red "Create Your Own" cards.

As the game went on, we got some really silly results (Useless Cleaveland, Creepy Elanor Roosevelt) and eventually things that were downright offensive (Obnoxious Helen Keller). We started telegraphing when we were playing something offensive by saying, "I'm going to hell for this one."

Sandy had an interesting conundrum when she had to decide whether Harry Potter or a nine iron best fit the word "Talented". We ran with the idea and started replacing Harry's name with "nine iron" in various quotes from the books.

Eventually, Qian, Laura, and Heater decided that they should head home since it was getting late and they needed to be up somewhat early. After they left, my sister's friend Denise and her husband Mike (the exception to the glasses/no glasses thing) visited briefly and watched us play Apples to Apples. Denise thought I was drunk because I seemed to be laughing at everything. (I didn't have any alcohol, but I laughed so hard and often that my sides and back still ache.)

Denise and her husband had to leave after a little while since his brother was sick. They missed seeing Sandy in what Scott called "Stage 2". She was having balance problems and ended up crawling down the hallway.

After a few more rounds of Apples to Apples, Scott decided to head home and Sandy went to sleep on the couch. The rest of us continued playing until we had exhausted the pile of red cards.

When we realized it was getting late, we grabbed some sleeping bags and my sister put on one of her "Sex in the City" DVDs. I ended up putting my sleeping bag halfway into the kitchen just because I could and fell asleep before my sister even started the DVD.

A few hours later I woke up to discover that my left arm had fallen asleep; unfortunately, I couldn't restore proper circulation to my limb because Emmy was sleeping on top of it. Apparently, she really likes me since she was sniffing at my face, flopped down next to me when she wanted to sleep, and liked when I pet her.

We woke up at about noon and sat around giving Sandy a recap of what happened last night to make sure she remembered everything, and a few things that didn't happen.

For breakfast, we had leftover pizza, cinnamon rolls, bacon, and some of the remaining snacks.

After watching a few more episodes of "Sex in the City", the last of my sister's friends left, but I stayed a while longer to play some video games.
